Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs of India, Hon’ble Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, visited Kenya on 6-7 March 2017 to attend the 4th Annual Devolution Conference in Nakuru County. The High Commission of India invited us along with prominent members of the Indian diaspora for an interaction with the Hon’ble Minister at the Indian High Commission Residential Complex, on 6th March 2017. It felt good to meet my fellow countrymen from various parts of Kenya. It was a relaxed open house where the Minister interacted with all of us and heard patiently all our suggestions on improving financial ties between our two countries. I was felicitated along with few other women from the community on this occasion. I took the opportunity to present my books to the Honourable Minister. It was a good beginning to the week.
Got Nav Rattan award in Delhi
One more feather in the cap. Got an award called Nav Rattan award in Delhi. It was a pleasure meeting other awardees from different parts of the world.
It is still a long way to go as my purpose of spreading the knowledge of Indian scriptures, heritage and hindu culture is not yet fulfilled. It is just the beginning. I can see my vision is taking shape in various parts of the world as I have started meeting many like minded people.
I could also feel that the change is taking shape. The Swamis and sanyasi are getting due respect. As that is what I would love to see.
I have a vision of spreading the knowledge of indian scriptures across the world in most modern methods and on latest platforms.
Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Sanman in House of Lords – London
It is my pleasure to share with you that I have received an award called Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Sanman in the House of Lords in London on 30th sept. 2016. The award was honored to me by a well known semi government institute of India based in Delhi.
It is one of the prestigious awards given to the NRIs in various fields from different parts of the world. I got this award for my contribution to the research and publication of Indian culture and its related books. They also recognized my contribution to various international bodies in the field of peace, resolving conflicts through dialogue, youth empowerment and local women empowerment. I am the first one to receive this award in Kenya. There were more than 30 awardees from various parts of the world.
Received Hind Rattan Award in Delhi
Getting an award is always a gratifying feeling.. but when you get it really unexpectedly, it has a different charm. When I got a call from the organizer, I felt a bit out of the place as mostly people in their fifties get awards of any sort. But it still had its own charm and lured me thinking I will be able to connect with people from different parts of the world.
When I reached Delhi I found that most of the people were in their fifties and sixties and I was probably the youngest one. But it didn’t matter to me. I met quite a few interesting professionals from different fields across the globe. Got a chance to share what I do in my country and with my foundation for the people. I met few like minded women who were really a go-getter like me. Got a very good looking award which is worth flaunting in the drawing room. The organiser, NRI Welfare of India has been doing the same for last 35 years. Many political and high profile government officials were present. Though it had lacked the charm of Modiji’s agenda as I didn’t feel Modi fever there.
I also realized that I have a different connection with Delhi, it just brings some or other good news to me. I think I should often visit Delhi to find out this connection feeling.
Yes the reason of awards also gave me an opportunity to go to Haridwar which was an extra bonus.
