BRAHMA MUHURT
INTRODUCTION
Brahma Muhurt is considered as the most auspicious time, which would occur one and a half hours before sunrise, and as the name implies, it is described as the time for the creator god Brahma. Most of the learned scholars, temple priests and Vedic Pundits used to get up during the Brahma Muhurt time, in order to start doing their daily activities. Performing Surya Namaskaram is considered as a good activity during the Brahma Muhurt time. Ancient sages used to perform pujas to the almighty after taking bath in the holy Rivers like Ganges, Yamuna and Godhavari, and they would do it on the auspicious Brahma Muhurt time.
Students also must be encouraged to get up early during the Brahma Muhurt time, and they must be made to study their subjects during that time, since during that time, they would be having enough grasping powers to easily study the subjects. Most of the Hindu marriages also would be performed during the Brahma Muhurt time. We can also perform meditation on the almighty during that time, in order to get the full grace of the almighty. In ancient times, in the Gurukulam form of education, the Guru who would mostly be a learned sage, would ask his students to get up during the Brahma Muhurt time, and also would deliver spiritual lectures during the Brahma Muhurt time.
Ancient battles also were undertaken during the Brahma Muhurt time, in order to gain victory in the battle field. We can also perform Yoga along with meditation during this auspicious time, in order to gain good spiritual energy as well as physical energy. Saints like Kanchi Paramacharya and Guru Raghavendra used to get up regularly during the Brahma Muhurt time, in order to discharge their routine spiritual activities. At this present period, it is good for us to get up early from the bed, in order to do some physical exercises like jogging, Weight lifting etc., since during that time, high energy levels would be boosted in our body.
