In his Divine form, also known as Vishwaroopam form, Lord Muruga can be seen with six faces and twelve arms. This form is also known as Anda Sarasara Moorthy. Lord Muruga, is also called in various names like Kartikeya, Skanda, Subrahamaniya, Saravana and Shanmuga, and he was born from the third eye spark of Lord Shiva.
In the Holy Skanda Purana, Lord Muruga was also mentioned as “AKILANDA KOTI BRAHMANDA NAYAKA”, the Lord of the entire universe, “SOORA SAMHARA MOORTY”, the Lord who killed the powerful demon Surapadman, “VEERA SENATIPATI”, the brave, prestigious and honourable Chief of the divine soldiers. During the time of the war, while Muruga appeared in the form of a small boy, Demon Surapadman had laughed at him on seeing his childish look. Then immediately Lord Muruga had revealed his true divine form. His body was covered with all the worlds, and in that, even his parents, Shiva and Parvati were there! In his eyes, Lord Surya and Chandra were present. On seeing his divine appearance, Surapadma’s nature was changed, and he began to worship Lord Muruga. But it was lasted only for a few minutes! When Muruga again changed his appearance and appeared in the form of a small boy, Demon Surapadman had lost his wisdom, and he considered Lord Muruga was a great magician! He then fought with Muruga and he was killed by Lord Muruga.
Generally, most of us are not aware about the Viswaroopa form of Lord Muruga, since we used to consider him only as a child god, and as a demi god or as a minor deity. If he is really a minor deity, then how come he would be able to take the “VISWAROOPA FORM”? In fact, in the holy text, “SRI KANDAN KARUNAI”, Lord Muruga was mentioned as a superior god, and he contains more powers than that of his parents! It is also mentioned, that Lord Muruga was there even before the creation of the universe! When Lord Shiva wanted to destroy the demon Surapadman, he has prayed to Lord Muruga, to take birth as his son. Only due to that, Lord Muruga had arisen from the third eye spark of Lord Shiva! Even from the words of the great saint and Murugan devotee, Sri Arunagirinathar, we could know more about Lord Muruga. In his songs, he mentioned Lord Muruga as “ANDAVARKARASE”, the king of the gods, “PARIPOORNALOKATIPATI”, the controller of the whole universe, “PARAMASHAKTI KONDAVANE”, the activating force of the entire universe.
From the words of Pamban Swamigal, Lord Muruga used to visit the Holy Pothigai Malai once in a while along with Rishi Agastiya. Those who have staunch devotion on Lord Muruga, could be able to see him in the Holy Pothigai Hills along with Rishi Agastiya. Some Atheists are of the opinion, that Lord Muruga was a fictitious deity, and the character Muruga was purely imaginary.
If Muruga is a fictitious deity, then how come the 15th Century Saint, Sri Arunagirinathar would have had the darshan of Muruga? Likewise if he is an imaginary one, then how come he could have given darshan to Ma Avvaiyar, who was also lived before 1000+odd years ago? Sri Pamban Swamigal had lived during 20th Century AD that is before a century ago. If he could have had the darshan of Lord Muruga in a pit, and it was noted in the registers, then how could, our near and dear Lord Muruga would be a fictitious god?
The main purpose of writing this article is Lord Muruga would never distance himself from his devotees. Even he would be present before an ordinary householder. But we should also come closer to him by the way of paying our attention on him in the form of “DEVOTION”. Though I have never seen the deities directly, but, sometimes I would get signals from them.
Only due to their best wishes, I am writing these forms of spiritual articles. Some people would lose their hope, due to the reason, that they are unable to see and converse with the god. They should know that God’s belief is purely based on our faith only. Without having faith on the god, bhakti wouldn’t arise in our mind. Hence let us keep more and more faith on Lord Muruga, let us have the belief, that he always watches our each and every activity, and let us be blessed.
