INTRODUCTION
Rishi Kalava is an ardent devotee of Lord Vishnu, and he was considered as an ancient and a holy sage, who showed great respect, love and affection on all the living beings in the earth. Even the Rabbits and squirrels would be surrounded at his Ashram, and he would give fruits and greens as food items to them. He was blessed with a holy daughter, and after she attained her teenage, Rishi Kalava wanted her to get married with Lord Vishnu itself.
Due to that, he prayed to Lord Vishnu, and Lord Vishnu had married his daughter at the present day Thiruvidanthai, Chennai. A temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu at this place and he is called as Sri Adi Varaha Perumal, and his consort, who is the daughter of Rishi Kalava is called as Akhilavalli Ammal. This temple is 1,000 years old and the temple is popularly known as Nithya Kalyana Perumal Temple. This temple is one among the 108 Divya Desam Temples, and those who are unmarried can visit this temple, in order to get married soon, since the divine couples present here are mainly worshipped for finding a suitable match.
Rishi Kalava had witnessed the divine marriage, and as per the instructions of Lord Vishnu, he went to the Himalayas and performed severe meditation of Lord Vishnu and after the end of his life, he went to the abode of Lord Vishnu, the Vaikunta.
