SHUKRA LOKA
INTRODUCTION
Shukra Loka is the abode of Lord Shukracharya, and he is the god of Friday, which is also considered as an auspicious day for buying gold and other valuable articles. He is the guru for the demons, and he is the planet Venus, who is one of the popular Navagrahas.
Shukra is the son of Rishi Bhrigu, his consort is Ma Jayanti, and his daughter is Devayani. He worshipped Lord Shiva, in the Velleeswarar Temple, Mylapore and brought back his vision. He is mentioned in various Puranas and other holy texts.
Shukra Loka contains all the beautiful aspects, and it is surrounded with full of mountains, holy trees, peculiar kinds of animals and birds. There are also palaces for him, his relatives and for his disciples. His palaces were built by Lord Mayasura, a demon architect, as per the instructions of Guru Shukra.
Prahalada and Namuchi used to frequently visit the Shukra Loka in order to get the blessings of their beloved guru Shukra. Apart from them, Narada, Tumburu and some holy sages would visit his loka, and used to interact with him about divine matters.
As per the epic Mahabharata, Shukracharya taught various holy texts to Bhishma, and he also shared his spiritual knowledge with him.
Shukra is one of the brightest planets and he is also worshipped by the ancient Romans. As per the views of the space researchers, it is not suitable for the humans to live in this planet, since it differs from Earth in various aspects. It is the hottest planet in the Solar System, and heat wind would occur throughout the year. Venus does not contain any water, and it is declared as a dry planet.
Shukra is a staunch devotee of Lord Shiva, and he used to meditate him frequently. He has become a planet through his sincere bhakti on Lord Shiva. Similar to other planets, he is also a very powerful and a noble deity, who would give good fortunes in the lives of his devotees. He can be worshipped by chanting the mantra, “OM SRI SHUKRA BHAGAVANE NAMAHA”.
