INTRODUCTION
Veerabrahmendra Swami is a famous sage, and he was the author of kalagnanam, which is well appreciated and still read by his followers. His birth name was Veeram Bhotlaiah. It is also believed that he is an incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
LIFE
It is believed that he was born in 9th Century AD. According to ancient legends, Veerabrahmendra was born into a Vishwakarma family in the village at Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh.
Sri Veerabhojayacharya, Head of the Papagni Mutt, Karnataka had adopted him.Veerabrahmendra Swamy, had acquired the spiritual knowledge at the age of 11. He was not interested in family life and at his younger age, he left his family and started his spiritual journey. His main disciple was Dudekula Siddaiah. People attended his lectures and interested in reading his poems, and they called him with respect as ‘Sri Madvirat Pothuluri Veera Brahmendra Swami’.
His temple is located at a village in Kadapa district, and is also a famous pilgrimage centre in Andhra Pradesh.

IMPORTANCE
He was a great saint who predicts the future events. In his book, Kalagnanam he has indicated about the future happenings which is going to occur in this earth, and asked the people to worship god shiva and chant his names repeatedly for ever, in order to get relieved from the clutches of Kali Purusha.
He asked us to forget about material things in the world, and to concentrate our attention only on god shiva, and to sing in praise of him. In order to get proper health, wealth and happiness, the only thing is to bow our heads onto the god shiva, and must worship him with utmost faith.He further tells, even in this kali yuga, we can escape from the problems which we face in our daily life, by sincerely uttering the mantras of gods. Nobody will save us from the problems in this earth, except by the god alone.He was against caste discrimination and treated all the religious people as equal and respected them properly.
According to him, all the human beings are equal before god, and there should not be any difference in treatment between them.He was also a great scholar in all hindu subjects and a master in all kinds of art.He was a kind, pious and a noble saint, who also done many charitable activities during his period. He asked his followers to do regular annadanam to the hungry people in a pleasing manner.Though he was considered to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he was a great shiva devotee, and asked us to chant the Shiva mantra repeatedly for many number of times: “OM NAMAH SHIVAYA”.
