DINAKRUSHNA DAS
INTRODUCTION
Dinakrushna Das (1650 – 1710) was a famous poet of Odisha, and he was an ardent devotee of Lord Krishna. He has dedicated his famous poem “Rasakallola”, to Lord Krishna.
He was born at Munutunia in Balasore district, Odisha in the year 1650. In his famous work ‘Rasakallola’, he wonderfully describes the Divine Love between Radha and Krishna, and he was a sincere devotee of Lord Jagannath of Puri. Dinakrushna Dasa is a divine Odisha poet and he lived during the time of the then kings of Odisha Sri Mukunda Deva and Divyasingha Deva.
He spent most of his life in Puri. He was a multi-faceted personality and got expertise in astrology, Ayurveda medicine etc. But since he didn’t praise the kings of Odisha through his poems, he suffered from poverty and from various health issues. His aim is only to praise Lord Jagannath of Puri.
Though he had suffered from poverty, he helped the poor people by providing food to them, and he didn’t blamed Lord Krishna for his sufferings, and he accepted his sufferings as the divine Prasad given by Lord Krishna! He was such a soft hearted and a great human personality, and we have to learn the good nature from him.
He used to regularly visit the Puri temple of Jagannath and sing devotional songs regularly. He died in the year 1710.
