INTRODUCTION
Lord Murugan in Palani Temple is also called as Kovanandi, since he wears only a Koupin(loin cloth) as his underwear. In this posture, he looks very simple and humble. He appears in this form, in order to make his devotees to be simple and humble. Apart from being called as Kovanandi, Palani Murugan is also being praised as Velandi, Dandapani and as Palaniandi.
When our great Muruga contains the entire universe on his body, then why he has to come down to the earth? Will Lord Muruga gets angry over his brother Vinayaka, since Vinayaka has cunningly got the mango from his parent, Lord Shiva-Shakti? In order to make Palani as one of his earthly abodes, the divine mango play incident was happened. Gods like Lord Muruga used to play wonderful divine plays in order to convey some useful message to the people. Through this form (Kovanandi), Lord Muruga asks his devotees to be very simple! For becoming a devotee of Lord Muruga, there is no need to wear rich costumes, just a piece of cloth is enough to cover our body, since Lord Muruga expects only the pure bhakti from us and nothing more else!
This form is similar to that of the Bhikshadanar form of Lord Shiva. Film and TV Serial producers must come forward to produce a film on PALANI MURUGA, and about his significance. The legendry film producer and the great Murugan devotee, Sri Chinappa Devar who was popularly known as Sandow Chinappa Devar, had produced a few films on Lord Murugan.
In the present trend, historical films like “Ponniyin Selvan”, ran into packed houses, and the film was successful at the box office, since the present day audiences used to prefer watching different, different variety of films, and hence they likes historical films also! According to my point of view, if TV audiences likes the Bhakti Serials like Sri Krishna, Ramayan and Mahabharat, then why can’t the TV/Film produce a nice serial/film about our near and dear Lord Sri “PALANI MALAI MURUGA PERUMAN”, Lord Muruga is not limited to Tamil people alone, since he is a universal god! Those who have doubts on Lord Muruga, let them first read the holy Skanda Purana, and then let them come to a conclusion! The cost of producing a film/serial on Palani Murugan would be less only, since there is no need to spend huge money for purchasing costumes for our divine hero!
I am not insisting on anyone to do as per my own wish, but, however, I have just expressed my opinion, out of my staunch devotion on Lord Muruga. It’s up to the producers whether to make or not to make a film on Lord Palani Muruga.
At this present Kaliyuga, we can find great happiness only by the way of pleasing the almighty, and one such kind of act is to glorify Lord Muruga of Palani Hills by the way of praising about his excellent qualities.
Let our great Lord Palani Murugan appear in the dream of some of his rich staunch devotees, in order to produce a wonderful film about him.
