Mahishasur Mardini Stotram

Sri Mahishasura Mardini Stotram was composed by the great sage Adi Shankaracharya two thousand years back. Sri Mahishasura Mardini Stotram is based on Devi Mahatmyam in which Devi takes the forms of Durga, Lakshmi and Saraswati to slay demons Madhu and Kaitabha, Mahishasura, and Sumbha and Nisumbha. In the twelth chapter of the Devi Mahatmyam the Goddess herself ordered to sing this song during festivals: “The place, where Sri Mahishasura Mardini Stotram is sung every day, I will always be present and never leave.”.
