SRI RAGHAVENDRA SWAMY MUTT, NANJANGUD
INTRODUCTION
Sri Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Nanjangud is an important Mutt of Guru Raghavendra Swamy and it is situated in Nanjangud, Mysore.
The main idol of Sri Guru Raghavendra was found at Srirangapatna in River Cauvery and it was installed in the Nanjangud Mutt by Sri Sugnanendra Theertha.
Before few hundred years, Sri Sugnanendra Theertha of Nanjangud, wanted to attain Samadhi at Mantralaya, and he prayed to Guru Raghavendra. Sri Raghavendra had appeared in his dream, and informed that he would come in the form of idol to Nanjangud. Similarly a washerman had found the idol of Guru Raghavendra near the Cauvery River and gave it to Sri Sugnanendra Theertha.
Sri Sugnanendra Theertha took the idol and informed about the incident to the then Mysore king Sri Mummadi Krishna Raja Wodeyar, and with the help of the Mysore King, the idol of Sri Raghavendra Swamy was installed in the Holy Mutt at Nanjangud.
Nearby the Mutt, Brindavanas of five sacred pontiffs are found.
Various Sevas for the benefit of the devotees are available in the temple.
Since in this temple, Guru Raghavendra appears in the form of idol, this temple is considered as one of the popular temples of Guru Raghavendra. Here free food is offered to all the devotees during the Raghavendra Annual Aradhana Festival days which would be usually held during August month of every year.
The temple is surrounded with full of natural beauty and provides feast for our eyes. Lot of devotees are relieved from their various problems after visiting this temple.
Hence let us visit this famous Raghavendra Temple at least once in a year, and be blessed.
