Sri Sundara Venkateswara means, The Beautiful Lord Venkateswara. The devotees of Lord Venkateswara would admire about the wonderful divine beauty of Lord Venkateswara Swamy, since a big NAMAM would be applied on his forehead, which is also called as Thiruman, and it looks very beautiful, and it adds more beauty to the idol of Lord Venkateswara, and, apart from that, his divine things, Shanku and Chakra which would be kept on his shoulders, looks very beautiful. His glittering smiling face attracts us for ever.
Lord Venkateswara would be decorated with rich flower garlands and costly ornaments on his body, which makes him to be a rich and beautiful god. Some devotees used to fondly call Lord Venkateswara as “VENKI”, and as “SRINIVASA PERUMAL”, and some of them would call him as simply “BALAJI” or as “TIRUMALA BALAJI”. If we read about him in detail from the “SRI VENKATESWARA MAHATMYAM”, then automatically we would admire about his beauty forever.
Srinivasa had taken the form of Lord Venkateswara, during the time of his marriage with Ma Padmavati, and as per the request of his consort, Padmavati, he still remains in the same form (KALYANA VENKATESWARA) which he has taken during the time of his marriage ceremony. After the completion of marriage ceremony, since Lord Venkateswara wanted to settle down at the sacred Tirumala Hills, he had ordered the then king of Tirumala, to decorate his idol in the present form (IN THE FORM OF BRIDEGROOM).
The reason of applying a big Thiruman on his forehead is, that, once if the devotees worship the holy mark Thiruman itself, then they would be addicted with the god. Lord Vishnu, in the form of Venkateswara, never used his divine things, Shanku and Chakra, and hence he kept it on his shoulders. Why the god wears lot of rich garlands on his body? The reason for wearing those nice things is, since the Lord is considered as the god of Wisdom and Fortunes, in order to grant sufficient wealth to his devotees, he wears it in a remarkable manner! Once if the great Lord wears those good ornaments, then his devotees also would get sufficient wealth, and they would also attain all kinds of prosperity in this earth.
Actually Lord Vishnu always loves to wear nice ornaments and garments. Since we consider Lord Venkateswara as our universal father, we can get delighted, by seeing him wearing rich costumes on his body. In the Tirumala Temple, we can also see the holy feet of Lord Venkateswara, and by having a glimpse of his holy feet, at least once in our life time, we would get relieved from our worldly bondages, and we would also attain the lotus feet of Lord Venkateswara for ever.
