SWAMI TADATMANANDA
INTRODUCTION
Swami Tadatmananda (1932 – 2008) had joined in the Ramakrishna Mutt, California centre during the year 1959, and he has become a saint in the year 1971. His birth name was John Markovich, and he was born in Michigan in the year 1932 to a pious Christian family.
While attending the primary school, John used to draw beautiful pictures of the great Lord Jesus Christ, and due to that, he was appreciated by the teachers and by his fellow students. He was highly recognized for his skills, and due to that, he used to draw spiritual pictures for various publishing houses and magazines. While he was drawing pictures, he came to know about Sri Ramakrishna and travelled to Los Angeles and attended the Vedanta Society lectures. During that time, he had drawn lot of pictures of Hindu saints, and drew pictures of Sri Ramakrishna, Swamy Vivekananda and Mata Sarada Devi. After completing his Vedic studies, he decided to join in the Ramakrishna Mutt, and joined in the California Centre, under the guidance of Swami Prabhavananda.
Swami has got good qualities such as showing kindness with others, concentrating his attention on deep spirituality, helping the poor and participating in lot of social service activities etc. Swami considered Lord Jesus Christ and Sri Ramakrishna as one and the same, and he didn’t find any differentiation between them. According to him, worshipping the god is apart from religion, and all the religious saviours and avatars preach and teach us to follow only good things in our life.
He died in the year 2008, and he will be always remembered for his good nature and for his artistic abilities.
Let us praise the great saint and be blessed.
