Godavaritir or Sarvashail Shakthi Peeth is the place where Sati’s Left Cheek fell. Devi Sati is worshipped as Maa Vishweshwari or Vishweshi or Rakini or Viswamatuka (the mother of whole world/universe) and Lord Shiva as Vatsnabh or Dandapani(one who holds a staff).

Maa Devi Vajreshvari Shakthi Peeth is the temple where Sati’s left breast had fallen. Here Devi Sati is worshipped as Vajreshvari (Goddess of lightning) and Lord Shiva as Kalbhairav. Vajreshvari is also known as Vajrabai or Vajrayogini.

Tara Tarini (Sthana Khanda) is the Shakthi Peeth where Devi Sati’s breasts fell. Here the twin goddesses are worshipped as Tara and Tarini. According to Shiva Purana, Devi Bhagvatha and Kalika Purnana there are four Adi Shakthi Peethas.

Shri Parvat Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s right anklet fell. Here Devi is worshipped as Shri Sundari. (One who is pretty and Lord Shiva as Sundaranand (handsome)

Magadha Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s Right Thigh fell. Here Devi is worshipped as Sarvanandakari (also known as Bari Patan Devi) and Lord Shiva as Vyomkesha. It is also believed that Devi Sati’s “pat” (cloth) fell at Patna and the Devi is called as Choti Patan Devi.

Vakreshwar or Bakreshwar Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s part of the brain or mind (manas) fell. Here Devi Sati is worshipped as Mahishamardini and Lord Shiva as Bakrareshwar or Vakreshwar (meaning bent or curved).

Chandranath Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s right arm fell. Here Devi is worshipped as Bhawani and Lord Shiva as Chandrashekar (the one who has the moon as the crown).

Karota Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s left anklet (ornament) fell. Here Devi is worshipped as Aparna or Arpana (one who ate nothing) and Lord Shiva as Bairabha (destroyer of fear).

Chamundeshwari Devi temple is one of the Ashta Dasha Shakthi Peethas, also known as Maha Shakthi Peetha. At the temple, Devi Sati’s hair had fallen. Here Devi Sati is worshipped as Chamundeshwari.

Guhyeshwari Shakthi Peeth is the place where Devi Sati’s knees fell. Here Devi is worshipped as Mahamaya or Mahashira and Lord Shiva as Kapali. Guhyeshwari in derived from the Sanskrit word Guhya (secret) and Ishwari (goddess).
