VERKADALAI SWAMIGAL
INTRODUCTION
Verkadalai Swamigal (20th century) was a great devotee of Lord Shiva, and he was born and brought up in Chennai. It is believed that he has worked in the High Court as an assistant, and after office hours, he used to give discourses on Shiva Puran and invoked the “SHIVA BHAKTI SPIRIT” among the people. He used to eat lot of groundnuts, and that is why he was fondly called as “VERKADALAI SWAMIGAL”.
He used to visit the hospitals and give sacred ash to the patients, and those who consume the sacred ash mixed with water would get relieved from several dreaded diseases, and immediately would get discharged from the hospital due to the grace of Sri Verkadalai Swamigal. Swamigal would get inside the hotel, and would ask his favourite dishes, and after he leaves from the hotel, lot of customers would come to eat in the hotel, and the hotel owner would get good business. No hotel owners would receive money from him, and they would also get great mental satisfaction after his visits to their hotels. Similarly he used to visit the places of other shop owners like garments business owners, foot wear shops, vegetable shops etc. Most of business owners were considered him as a divine person, and gives great respect to him.
He attained Jeeva Samadhi during the year 1935 at Ayyavoo Street, nearby Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar Bus Terminus. Devotees can visit his divine shrine and get his grace.
Let us worship the great Swamigal and be blessed.
