The Hadimba temple, erected in 1553 AD is located in the middle of the Dhungiri Van Vihar at Manali in Himachal Pradesh in Northern India. It is dedicated to Hadimba who was the Asura wife of Bhima and the mother of Ghatotkachh. It is said the Hadimba meditated and attained the title of Devi. Also, instead of the idol, there is a footprint on stone which is worshipped. On 14th of May every year, Manali celebrates Devi Hadimba’s birthday with a huge fair and longri- rice beer is served as prasad to all the devotees. The Hadimba temple is a unique 4 storey wooden structure built in the ancient pagoda style with a 24 m tall wooden shikhar over the structure.
