Kenya has been recognised for its aggressive campaign to position itself as the best destination for trade, tourism and investment through its initiative “Make it Kenya”. The country received the Best Place or Nation Brand at the just concluded 2016 Transform Mena Awards, in Dubai.
The award follows extensive campaign by Brand Kenya that was initiated to revive the image of the country following several terror attacks that kept away investors and tourists affecting the country’s economy. “The new brand was also intended to inspire pride in Kenyans and send a clear call for action for businesses interested in Kenya while also providing tourists with an engaging selection of branded content,” said Brand Kenya Board acting Chief executive officer Mary Luseka. Ms Luseka said Kenya is continually gaining positive vibe in the international scene and promised Kenyans that more is still to come from the initiative ‘Make it Kenya’.
The country’s branding campaign was developed by the Ministry of Tourism and officially launched by President Uhuru Kenyatta during the Milan Expo last year. The awards recognize best practices in corporate product and global brand development work with categories that focus on strategy, execution, content and evaluation. Last month, Kenya was feted with the Africa Excellence Award under the Travel and Tourism for social media campaign Mara live.
Ms Luseka received the award on behalf of Kenya.
