We must have to consider that Lord Muruga is everything in our life. Lord Muruga is the beloved son of Parvati and Parameswara, brother of the first god, Vinayaka, and he also contains great powers similar to his parents. In the Muruga Purana, it was mentioned, that the entire universe was found in the two eyes of Lord Muruga. The Kaumaram Sect of people who mostly lives in Tamil Nadu are considered as ardent devotees of Lord Muruga, and they consider Lord Murugan as superior than that of his parents Lord Shiva and Ma Shakti. Murugan is mainly worshipped by the people in Tamil Nadu, and also he is worshipped by the Tamil people in Malaysia, Singapore and Srilanka.
In his Bhagavat Gita Teachings, Lord Krishna tells, “Among the gods, I am the Lord Muruga”. Murugan is worshipped by the Shaivite saints like Arunagirinathar, Avvaiyar, Nakkeerar, Pamban Swamigal, Vallimalai Swamigal and Agastiyar etc. Similar to Lord Krishna, Lord Muruga is being worshipped in the form of a child. Lord Muruga is having peacock as his vehicle, while Krishna used to wear the peacock feathers on his head. Both of them resemble similar in their appearance also, and both of them are showing their unconditional love towards their devotees.
When the great Murugan Devotee, Arunagirinathar tries to commit suicide from the Arunachala Mountain hill, it was Lord Muruga who had saved him, and he has shown him the bhakti path. Lord Muruga is praised in ancient Tamil Texts, and he is described as the Lord of Mountains, since he resides in the Palani Hills. Muruga Bhakti has attained its peak after the female saint-poet Ma Avvaiyar sung songs in praise of Lord Muruga.
Lord Murugan is also sanctified by the Chola, Chera and Pandiyan kings, and lot of temples were also constructed by them. Still now, most of the Hindu women used to observe fasting during Shasti days, by considering it as a good act.
Whenever possible, we can visit the six abodes of Lord Muruga, also popularly known by Arupadai Veedu Temples which is situated in Tamil Nadu, or else, if we find it difficult to visit those temples physically, we can watch the Arupadai Veedu Temples of Lord Muruga in YouTube Videos also.
