MANGALYA DOSHAM
INTRODUCTION
Mangalya Dosham occurs to the girl in her horoscope, when she has not performed Sumangali Puja in her previous births. Even if the girl gets married and enters into her in-laws house, and if she suffers from Mangalya Dosham, then the health condition of her husband as well as her father-in-law would become worse. Sumangali means a married lady, whose husband is still alive, and the Sumangali puja is being performed in order to get the blessings of their female ancestors, and it is being done by the Sumangalies for the well-being of their consorts.
Sumangali Puja is a type of puja which must be performed on auspicious days, and especially on Fridays, and during that day, lot of Sumangalies would be invited to the house, and puja would be performed to the deities, and especially to Ma Mahalakshmi, and after the completion of the puja, the Sumangalies would be offered with Sari, blouse pieces with fruits and flowers, and food also must be served to the participants of the puja, and if possible, some quantity of food can be donated to special institutions like old age homes and orphanages. Homams like Ganapathy Homam and Mahalakshmi Homam can also be done, in order to get relieved from the Mangalya Dosham.
Before the commencement of Sumangali Puja, they must visit temples like Thirumanancheri and Thiruvidanthai and must worship the deities. Those who suffer from Mangalya Dosham can also help in the marriage of poor girls, by providing them the holy Mangalsutra at their own cost.
