INTRODUCTION
There is a small Vinayaka Temple known as Sri Raghava Vinayaka Temple, which is situated in Triplicane near the famous Thulasinga Perumal Koil Street. Though the size of the temple seems to be small, but the power of this deity is very high. Those whoever visit Guru Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Triplicane and Sri Parthaswamy Temple used to visit this temple also, in order to avoid obstacles in their life.
This temple could be seen fully crowded, especially during monthly Chathurti and Annua Vinayaka Chathurti Festival days. Coconut breaking (Soora Thengai) event also would take place during those auspicious days. In few Raghavendra Mutts, Vinayaka Temple would also be situated inside the temple premises, like the ones available in Ayanavaram and Perambur Mutts. Smaller Vinayaka Idols which would be mostly kept in the iron box temple like structures could be seen near the entrances of some big bungalows and also in small houses. But puja should be done to those deities on a regular basis by appointing a part time priest.
As per the famous spiritual quote, “When there are no temples of Vinayaka in a place, please avoid staying in that place”! Nowadays Vinayaka is worshipped even by some foreigners, by considering him to be a powerful deity!
Keeping Vinayaka idols in our homes would chase out evil spirits, black magic impacts and bad luck from our homes, and prosperity would enter into our homes like the vast ocean. Lord Vinayaka is our Nayaka(Divine Hero), Lord Vinayaka would remove our Theeya Vinai(Bad Karma), Totally the word Vinayaka means, the one who removes the obstacles in our life. Some people used to steal the idols of Vinayaka from smaller Temples, in order to install that in their areas, with the belief that when the idol was stolen and installed, then it would bring good fortunes to them! But the act of doing like that is considered to be a sinful one!
Vinayaka worship is prevalent since Vedic times, but nowadays, some of us used to perform puja to Lord Vinayaka only during the Annual Chaturthi festival day with the belief that Lord Vinayaka would grant everything to us even if we don’t worship him sincerely!
Lord Vinayaka can be formed even in rice and in wheat flour, since he is such a kind of simple deity. Even an unskilled artist would be able to draw pictures of Lord Vinayaka very easily! Once when we start reciting the beautiful name “VINAYAKA”, then, immediately, we could presume that our entire problems would be solved quickly! If we didn’t get proper sleep during night time, then if we utter the miraculous name “VINAYAKA, VINAYAKA,”, then we could get a comfortable sleep within a few minutes time!
