BHAKTI CHARU SWAMI
INTRODUCTION
Bhakti Charu Swami (1945–2020) was a famous leader of the ISKCON and he is the disciple of Sri Prabhupada. He was born in the year 1945 in an orthodox Bengali family and spent his childhood in Kolkata. At his teenage, he left his native place, and went to Germany for further studies. There, he thoroughly studied Vedas, and also researched our holy Hindu Scriptures.
Once he got an opportunity to study the holy book of Srila Prabhupada, and due to his spiritual thirst, he joined ISKCON in Mayapur, West Bengal, India. After joining in ISKCON, he translated all the books of Prabhupada into Bengali language and become his Personal Secretary, and he has become a saint as per the instructions of Prabhupada. He has written lot of books and also produced and directed spiritual videos, and wrote the life history of Prabhupada and his spiritual achievements. He constructed a beautiful Krishna Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. And he also fed thousands of school children through a centralised kitchen. In 2013, he has built a Krishna temple in West Bengal, and this temple is considered as very sacred by the Bengali Hindus. Apart from this temple, he has started an Ayurveda clinic in Ujjain for the welfare of the poor patients.
He had given spiritual lectures and motivational speeches in big institutes like IIM’s and IITs, and he has founded charitable institutions in some foreign countries also. In free time, he used to spend his time in the Krishna Temples by doing meditation for several hours. He was very fond of feeding cows, and hence he started cow sheds in Florida.
He has got many disciples and followers and they are actively performing the spiritual work, and also they are spreading the consciousness of Lord Krishna throughout the world. After spending several years of his life in doing spiritual service, Swami died in the year 2020 in Florida, USA.
