About
Deepak Chopra is a world leader in the field of mind-body medicine. His groundbreaking wellness and healing techniques have helped people focus on spiritual and social wellness along with the conventional physical-mental-emotional cycle of health.
Childhood
Born on October 22, 1946, Deepak Chopra is an American physician, author and orator. Dr. Chopra is a new age spiritual healer whose alternative healing practices are based on spirituality, mind-body medicine and Ayurveda. Chopra started off his professional life as an endocrinologist and later went on to become one of the most acclaimed alternative healing practitioners of the 21st Century. Before starting his career in alternative healing, Chopra worked as an assistant to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.
After his training under the Yogi, Chopra began writing books on subjects like New Age Spirituality and Alternative medicines. His self-help approach of healing earned him several public and celebrity followers, including the great singer-dancer Michael Jackson with whom his bond continued for over 20 long years. Today, Dr. Chopra runs an independent medical centre which specializes in the mind-body medicines.
Education
Chopra acquired his primary education at St. Columbia’s School in New Delhi. After gaining a medical degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Chopra joined Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, New Jersey and worked there as an intern. Chopra had a clear vision portrayed before him and he subsequently joined a number of residencies and fellowship programs at Boston University’s affiliated medical centers. Dr. Chopra was one of the core members at Boston Regional Medical Center before establishing the Chopra Center.
In the year 1973 he cleared the license for practicing medicine at Massachusetts after which, in the year 2004, he also earned his California Medical license.
A Prolific Writer
Deepak Chopra is a prolific writer and has penned over sixty-four books out of which nineteen are New York Times bestsellers.
His books Peace Is the Way won the prestigious Religions and Spirituality Quill Award in 2005, while the other book The Book of Secrets was honored Nautilus Book Awards in the year 2005.
In his most recent book, the New York Times bestseller, War of the Worldviews: Science vs. Spirituality (co-written by physicist Leonard Mlodinow), Dr. Chopra has linked the concept of Science and Religion in a complete constructive mode rather than a conservative polarized manner.
An Orator and a Public Figure
As a columnist of the San Francisco Chronicle and Washington Post, Deepak Chopra has earned a huge fan following who reads and adheres to his principles of living a healthy and blissful life. Dr. Chopra also contributes on a regular basis to the Intent.com, the Huffington Post and CNN.com. He is also a popular anchor and runs his own popular Deepak Chopra Radio show on the Blog Talk Radio.
Deepak Chopra’s popularity as an international orator had brought him many honorariums. Dr. Chopra is an active participant as a lecturer at the Update in Internal Medicine where he gives lectures regularly. The event is sponsored by Harvard Medical School’s Department of Continuing Education and the Department of Medicine, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Dr. Chopra holds prestigious positions in the following institutes –

– an adjunct professor of executive programs at Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University,

Institutions
The Chopra Center: The Chopra Center for Wellbeing believes in a comprehensive healing practice which focuses on physical-emotional-mental-spiritual health cycle of an individual. Dr. Chopra runs the centre in collaboration with his business partner and a notable Ayurvedic physician and neurologist Dr. David Simon. The first centre was founded at La Jolla, California from where the duo moved their centre to La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California; and today the centre has branches spread across the world. In the year 2004, Dr. Simon took over the office of the Medical Director and CEO at The Chopra Center.
