DIVINE SONGS ON LORD VINAYAKA BY SAGE PURUSHUNDI
INTRODUCTION
Lord Vinayaka contains lot of devotees since several millions of years. Even the great Bhagavathas and the Vishnu devotees like Narada, Tumburu and Prahalada were worshipped Lord Vinayaka even before millions and millions of years ago. The existence of Lord Vinayaka was found in ancient texts of Hinduism, and he has become the first god, due to the boons given to him by the Divine deities. In the Vinayaka Purana, Lord Vinayaka is mentioned as the supreme god, and he is worshipped even by his parents, Shiva and Shakti, and he is highly praised in the Holy texts of Hinduism.
Out of his ancient devotees, Purushundi is considered to be a great sage who was born in the Treta Yuga. Similar to Rishi Valmiki, he was a hunter before becoming a sage. Apart from hunting, he also used to grab the things forcefully from the travellers during the time of their travel in the forest. He was corrected and guided by the great sage, Sri Mukkala, and as per his advice, he began to chant the Ganapati Nama, “OM SRI GANESAYA NAMAHA”, and also written and sung marvellous songs on Lord Vinayaka. As a result, after his death, he has attained salvation, went to the Ganesa Loka, and it is believed that still he resides in that divine Loka, by worshipping Lord Vinayaka, and also by blessing the devotees of Lord Vinayaka.
Some of the beautiful contents present in his divine songs are as follows:-
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You are the first god, and your beauty cannot be explained in words. For us, you are more valuable than the precious ornaments, like god and silver, and no one can estimate your value, since you are the one, who is present on all the living and non-living beings in the entire universe.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You have killed the dreaded demons like Gajamukhasura and Mushikasura, and granted salvation to them, similar to that, please make us to reside at your holy feet at your abode, in order to enjoy the everlasting spiritual bliss.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You have been tested by the Devas, and you have proved your significance to them. You are the one, who cannot be defeated by anyone, and who have been occupied fully in my soul.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You are the leader of the entire universe, but still, you look very simple, and you own a small vehicle, the Mushika, and you are very fond of Mothakams.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You are the beloved son of your Divine parents, Shiva and Shakti, and through your glory, they are also become worshipful deities, and your lovely names are always chanted by the pious ones, throughout the universe.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You have been called by various names like Gajanana, Mushikavahana, Ganesa, Ganapathy, Vinayaka and Gananatha, and those who recite your names with devotion would get relieved from worldly bondages, and they would attain great spiritual energy.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
You are the sun, you are the moon, you are Lord Brahma, and you are everything for me. Oh my great Ganesha, I don’t want to think about anything in this world, expect about you, you and you only.
Om my Dear Lord, I bow my head before you, and I offer my humble respect to you.
Those who chant your mantras, shares about your significance with others, perform pujas, and worship you sincerely during all the days, and especially during Vinayaka Charthurthi festival day, would be relieved from their sins and diseases, they would never suffer in their life and after the end of their life they would surely attain salvation.
